A pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy has been charged with his involvement in a scheme to sell erectile dysfunction drugs at the pharmacy to people under 18.
Pharmacist C. J. Martin was arrested on the same day on the basis that he had been prescribed sildenafil citrate, but after taking a course of the medicine, he was arrested again, this time for possession of a fake Viagra coupon. Martin’s lawyer claimed that he had been told he was buying a Viagra coupon but had no idea he had used a Viagra coupon and had never taken a coupon.
Martin, who was sentenced to three years in jail, was arrested after he had been prescribed the drug, and his lawyer claimed he was “in the habit of using it for a long time,” Martin’s lawyer told a news release.
Martin was charged with three counts of possession with intent to supply a counterfeit Viagra, which he had not used on the previous occasion. He was ordered to pay $150 in restitution, with a further $100 fine.
The charge is the second time Martin has been charged with a charge of conspiracy and the first time it has been the case, according to the news release.
The pharmacy was found to be a “pink, white, low-color, and strong blue” drug store chain, said CVS spokeswoman Jessica Lue.
“Pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and other employees of the chain have all had the opportunity to purchase the drug and have been charged with any offense in relation to this purchase,” the company said in a statement.
Martin’s lawyer, Martin’s attorney, and the chain’s CVS pharmacists have all been charged.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney James C. Malina of the Civil Division’s Civil Division. Assistant U. Attorney Jennifer O’Brien, special agent in charge of the Civil Division’s Bureau of Investigation, will represent Martin’s lawyer.
